Children's Hospital Project Photos

Boy Scout Troop 750, of Mason, sanded, assembled and tested more than 200 wooden cars
cut out by members of the Cincinnati Woodworking Club.  As combined service projects,
the efforts of the Scouts and the woodworkers benefit the young patients at the Cincinnati
Children's Medical Center.  Jennifer Hadley, a child life specialist at the medical center said the
cars, and every donated toy or craft, are important for the children.  "It helps to normalize the
environment when they're sick," she said. "Therefore, it's decreasing stress while they're here".
When a child feels better, Hadley said, it is first noticed through their play.  Additionally,
as part of the same service project, the woodworkers make and donate memory boxes and cutouts
for the children to decorate during their hospital stay.  Jo Nall, a member of the local woodworking club
for more than two years, is the driving force behind this rewarding project.
